If the Kitchen is the Heart of the Home, then the Cabinets are the Heart of the Kitchen!

We’ve all heard the expression “the kitchen is the heart of the home”, and for good reasons.  Think about where we like to spend time when we are home. Where do friends and family gather?  The kitchen!

There are several reasons the kitchen is the heart of the home.  One, it is the place where the food is! People generally flock where there is food.  This is especially true in the south where almost every gathering involves lots of good food!

Secondly, families have begun to adapt their kitchens to provide a more supportive environment in which to congregate.  Many families have a “family” computer in the kitchen so kids can work on homework while dinner is being prepared and parents can check a few items off their things to do list while still being in the kitchen with loved ones.

Many people have kitchen/dining areas combined which allows a larger space where family and friends can gather.  Having this social space means that the kitchen is always going to be the center of the home.

While the kitchen may have been designed for preparing and cooking meals, it has slowly morphed into the epicenter of the home.

People invest a lot into kitchen upgrades because it is the most important room when it comes to the resale value of the home.  Kitchens set the tone for the entire house. An inspiring space can mean the difference between a mediocre day and a fantastic day.  For those not looking to renovate the entire kitchen, small upgrades can go a long way. Changing the cabinets and/or countertops can significantly transform the mood in the kitchen.

Cabinets are the most prominent feature in the kitchen and can make the biggest impact on transforming the kitchen.  And, you don’t have to replace the cabinets to make a big difference. Existing cabinets can be refinished and transformed without breaking the budget.  Most projects can be completed in 4-5 days with little disruption.

With the important role the kitchen plays in your family and social life, it should be a warm and welcoming place.  Why live with old, outdated, damaged, or even ugly cabinets?
